Genoveva Casanova lived one of the hardest experiences of her life. The former daughter-in-law of the Duchess of Alba has been admitted to a Madrid hospital for eight days after suffering a pulmonary embolism that caused a pulmonary infarction. A serious mishap that, as revealed by the magazine Hello! This Wednesday, if she had not been diagnosed on time, the consequence could have been her death.

The ex-wife of Cayetano Martínez de Irujo has already been discharged and now continues with her recovery at home. Hours after revealing her illness, Genoveva has been captured by Europa Press cameras, but in her short reappearance she has not offered any statements about her health problems and has shown a serious face.

According to the magazine, Genoveva still finds it difficult to speak and quickly becomes out of breath, a widespread symptom in those who have suffered a pulmonary embolism. This condition is a sudden blockage of a pulmonary artery that can occur after a clot breaks off and travels to and lodges in the lungs.

Genoveva was discharged on July 28 and since then a period of reflection has been considered in her life after this hard episode that she has had to live. Fortunately, Genoveva will be surrounded in the next few days by her twin children, Amina and Luis, who have already started their summer vacations after the study season.

The Mexican rose to fame in Spain for her marriage in 2005 with Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, Duke of Arjona and son of the remembered Cayetana de Alba. After her divorce, Genoveva continued to be welcome in the palaces of the house of Alba due to her good friendship with the then Duchess of Alba.
