Bill Nye is not just “The Science Guy”, he’s also a married man. People magazine announced this week that the TV personality married Liza Mundy, a journalist and author.

The couple got married at Washington’s Smithsonian Institute’s Castle Building, Haupt Garden.

Robert Picardo, star of Star Trek: Voyager, officiated at the ceremony. Picardo made a joke on Twitter about the Officiant who appears to be somewhat familiar. He apparently said, “Commitment: The Final Frontier.”

Pete Souza was President Barack Obama’s official White House photographer and captured photos of the wedding.

Souza shared images from the day on Instagram and wrote, “Yes, it’s true. I’m now officially married photographer.” “But I buried it: congrats Bill Nye, Liza Mundy.”

Mundy is connected to the Obama administration. In 2008, she published “Michelle: A Biography” about former first lady Michelle Obama. Former Washington Post staff writer, she is currently a senior fellow at New America. This non-partisan, non-partisan think-tank focuses on women, work and national security.

Mundy also wrote “Girls Who Code”, a 2017 New York Times bestseller about American women who broke codes during World War II.

Nye is an engineer, comedian and author. He is also known for his ability to make science fun for children on his popular show, “Bill Nye the Science Guy”. The Emmy-winning children’s program aired from 1993-1999 and won 19 awards during its run. Nye has been nominated once for an Emmy for “Bill Nye Saves the World,” a 2017 Netflix series.

Nye, 66 had a spontaneous marriage to Blair Tindall, in 2006. However, it wasn’t legal for some reason and neither Nye or Tindall have explained why.
