This Thursday, Siemens inaugurated a digital experience center in the DFactory building of the Barcelona Free Trade Zone Consortium (CZFB). The multinational has around fifty of them spread around the world, but the Barcelona one is the only one dedicated to AGVs, autonomous vehicles that work in factories and warehouses dedicated to the logistics field.
“We have been in Catalonia for more than 110 years. This center demonstrates Siemens’ commitment,” said the general director of Siemens Digital Industries for Spain and Portugal, José Ramón Castro. “We are local but global,” he added.
The Dex, name by its acronym in English, consists of a space where you can see in real time the Siemens AGV management systems, capable of managing different brands of vehicles.
“This type of bet makes us think about district 4.0,” celebrated the general director of the CZFB, Blanca Sorigué. “We are creating an activity hub of global importance,” she added with a view to the second phase of the DFactory.
“It is a very strong commitment to create a unique industry 4.0 district in Europe,” he described. A transformation that, according to Sorigué, will be carried out through “collaboration” between a public company like the CZFB, emerging and other established companies, and research laboratories.
