Best Buddies, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, hosted a cycling event in South Florida to raise funds and awareness for their cause. The event, which took place following the organization’s 26th Gala, attracted cycling legends such as Chris Froome, Alberto Contador, Geraint Thomas, and Mark Cavendish for a 75 to 100-mile ride.

Anthony Shriver, the founder of Best Buddies International, expressed his excitement about the event, stating, “We are crushing it for Best Buddies. We are launching the best buddies challenge in Miami. We are riding 100 miles, all to raise money for people with special needs and special talents and special abilities.”

The event was supported by sponsors like Braman Motors, whose representative Terry Cifuentes shared, “Best Buddies is making a direct impact on the lives of people with special needs by promoting inclusion, promoting friendship, and this is something we really feel strongly about, and we will continue to support throughout the years.”

The cycling event kicked off from the Four Seasons Hotel, with a police escort leading the way. The route took cyclists over the Julia Tuttle Causeway, through Downtown Miami, Rickenbacker Causeway, and into Key Biscayne before heading back to the starting point at the Four Seasons after making a U-turn at Virginia Key.

The event not only provided participants with a memorable cycling experience but also highlighted the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities and promoting inclusion within the community. By coming together for a common cause, cyclists and supporters alike were able to make a positive impact and raise awareness for Best Buddies’ mission.

In addition to the cycling event, Best Buddies also organizes various initiatives and programs to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, emphasizing the value of friendship and inclusion. Through their efforts, the organization continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

As we look towards the future, it is essential to recognize the importance of supporting organizations like Best Buddies and advocating for the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities. By participating in events like the cycling ride across South Florida, we can all play a role in creating a more inclusive and supportive community for everyone.
