It looks like Adrian Newey, the genius behind the Formula 1 cars that have dominated the tracks in recent years, might be thinking green instead of red. Helmut Marko, an authoritative voice in the paddock and still the engineer’s colleague, has dropped the bomb: although many thought that Newey would go to Ferrari, he sees it as more likely that he will end up at Aston Martin.

“What color do I see Newey in in the future? I think the red clashes a little with the dark blue. But I think everything is possible with a great color like green,” Marko theorized according to total-motorsport.com. This comment hints that Aston Martin’s signature green could be Newey’s next home.

All of this comes just as Red Bull has confirmed that Newey will hang up his gloves with them in the first quarter of 2025, leaving behind an era where their cars have racked up 13 titles with another possibly coming this season.

And if things line up as Marko says, Newey and Fernando Alonso could work together for the first time, despite having been in Formula 1 for decades. Although both could have coincided years ago, that has never happened and it would be now, at the end of their respective careers, when they could collaborate on a winning car.

Alonso, asked in Miami about this possibility, did not hide his excitement about it: “I always wanted to work with him once in my life. “I consider him probably the best that Formula 1 has ever had, a legend of the sport.”

Meanwhile, the ball is in the court of Lawrence Stroll, the owner of Aston Martin. Alonso put things in perspective: “It’s a question for Lawrence. We are very happy with our technical department. Adrian is one of the best or the best there is, but he needs to fit into a team.”

So while the idea of ??seeing Newey dressed in green sounds really cool, there are still several loose ends to tie up before that becomes a reality. In fact, the engineer has not made any decision in this regard while he continues to work for Red Bull. He might even consider walking away if no offer satisfies him enough.
