Police are searching for a third suspect in the shooting massacre in Philadelphia on Saturday that left 12 people injured and three dead in the South Street entertainment district.
Tuesday’s surveillance photos were shared by the Philadelphia Police Department. They show the suspect in the shooting investigation as a Black male in his late teens wearing a hooded top with “distinctive marks.”
Police said that if you see the suspect, do not approach him.
Philadelphia offers a $20,000 reward to anyone who leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives contributes $10,000 each for each of these homicides.
In the Saturday shooting, two people were arrested. Quran Garner (18 years old) was taken into custody after the incident. Rashaan Vereen (34 years old) was also taken into custody Monday evening. Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore stated that Garner was charged with multiple offences, including two counts each of aggravated attack and two counts each of aggravated abuse on law enforcement officers.
Jane Roh, spokesperson for the district attorney, said that Vereen has been charged with attempted murder, simple assault and aggravated assault against Vereen. However, Vereen was not yet arraigned.
Joanne Pescatore, Assistant District Attorney, stated that a fight preceded the shooting at 11:30 p.m. Two men pulled out guns and opened fire on each other during the fight.
Gregory Jackson (34 years old) was believed to have fired the first shot. Pescatore stated that a man who fired back killed him.
According to NBC Philadelphia, Vereen stayed with Jackson and said he was his friend after he was wounded.
Garner was a friend to the second man who had exchanged gunfire and shot Jackson. He then started shooting down South Street towards where the fight began, Pescatore stated. Garner was shot in the hand by a police officer.
Pescatore stated that Garner was in a hospital on Monday. It wasn’t immediately clear if Garner had an attorney who could speak for him or what caused the fight. Pescatore stated that Jackson and the man who returned fire were both licensed to carry guns.
Pescatore stated Monday that at least four guns had been fired.
Police said that Jackson was not the only fatal victim.
They were identified as Kris Minners (22-year-old) and Alexis Quinn (24-year old).
Minners was a mentor and advisor at Girard College.
In a Sunday statement, Girard College interim president James D. Turner stated that Kris had just turned 22. He was celebrating with his family and friends. He attended Girard College from 9th grade to 2nd grade, and has been working in the residential program as an advisor for 6th and 2nd-grade boys since January 2022.
