Fields of rapeseed are also taking over the landscape in the fields of Montmaneu, in the Anoia region, where yellow is making its way as a spring color.

So much so that any available land, whether flat or on a hill, is used to expand the cultivation of rapeseed, which is increasingly fashionable due to its profitability.

Rapeseed can be a profitable crop. In Catalonia, it is the Osona region where there are the most extensions, although it is also present in Garrotxa and other areas, such as Anoia.

It is a crop that is used to produce fodder and biodiesel. Nowadays, in addition, the mechanization of work in the field has made the process of harvesting rapeseed faster and more productive.

The territory of Montmaneu includes the hamlet of Panadella and the old priory of Sant Jordi de Riquer. It appears already cited in documents of the XI century under the name of Monte Maneui. In fact, Maneu was one of the Catalan lineages of the 10th and 11th centuries.

At a heritage level, the Gothic church of Montmaneu stands out, which is dedicated to Saint Mary. Built in the 14th century, it has a Latin cross plan with side chapels.

In addition, a tower with a cylindrical base is still preserved from the old castle, already mentioned in documents from 1176 and which is considered a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
