The Mercat del Ram de Vic balloon festival is the oldest sporting event in the world of hot air ballooning in Catalonia and is one of the most prestigious events of its kind in Europe. It is held every year during the weekend before Easter and, since 1984, in the capital of Osona.
For four days, the International Mercat del Ram Balloon Trophy 2023, organized for 40 years by the Club Català del Globus, fills Vic with hot air balloons during the Mercat del Ram fair. It includes a competition, exhibition flights and a Night Glow, a nightly show of lights and sound.
This year Vic hopes to bring together close to 300 athletes, including participants, organizers, judges and coaches, and around thirty teams from Catalonia, the Basque Country, the rest of Spain and countries from other parts of Europe and America.
