Spectacular solar halo in Gavà, in Baix Llobregat, crossed by the plane. The image, captured for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, has been seen today, announcing the long-awaited change of time for the next few days.
The halo is caused by ice particles suspended in the troposphere that refract light, generating a spectrum of colors around the sun (solar halo), although it also occurs with the moon (lunar halo).
It is an optical effect in the shape of a disk around the sun and that presents an iridescent ring on its outer circumference.
The halo is usually seen in cold places, such as Antarctica, Alaska, Greenland, northern Scandinavia, boreal areas of Russia and Canada, although it has also been visible in countries with tropical climates.
In fact, it can happen anywhere if the right weather conditions exist, as in this case in the Barcelona area.
