The griffon vulture looks suspiciously, with its gaze fixed and attentive to any suspicious movement, as seen in this snapshot in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos. If there is any doubt or possible danger, he will take flight.
I have used black and white to focus the view of the image on the gaze. It is a photograph captured in Orís, Osona region.
The griffon vulture is one of the few vultures that can be found in Europe, along with the black vulture, Egyptian vulture and bearded vulture.
This bird, of which we can see in detail the penetrating gaze, can reach 10 kg in weight with a wingspan that exceeds 2.5 meters.
The tarsi and toes of the griffon vulture are much weaker than other birds of prey. This circumstance and especially the great weight and slowness, make it hunt differently from other birds of prey.
