In the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia we can see how, after the rain, these puddles have formed on the roads of Sant Llorenç del Munt where it is very curious to see the pollen that has fallen from the pine trees in the water, too, by the wind.
Pollen is a very fine powder, generally yellow in color, as seen in the images. It is generated in a structure at the tip of the stamen (the male reproductive organ of the flower), known as anther, and its objective is to fertilize other plants of the same species.
In general, tree pollen is the first seasonal allergen, especially in spring when most plants begin to bloom. With climate change, trees can even begin to release their pollen as early as January and the spread typically lasts until June.
The Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l’Obac is an extensive protected natural area. The landscape is of oak forest, white pine, oak and hazel and bare rock.
In addition, it is pierced by more than 300 caves and peaks. Neolithic and medieval archaeological remains abound among farmhouses, vineyard huts, ice wells and fountains.
The main summits of Sant Llorenç del Munt are Montcau and La Mola, where the monastery of Sant Llorenç del Munt is located, at 1104 meters high.
