Last Saturday around three in the afternoon there was a fire on the ninth floor of an apartment on Samaniego street in Seville, which left a four-year-old girl seriously injured. After the investigations, a woman was arrested, and as the National Police confirmed this Monday, it is the mother of the minor, accused of the crime of abandonment.

The victim’s mother, a 24-year-old girl, was arrested shortly after the fire and was released on Sunday with charges, with a 300-meter restraining order on the girl and a ban on communicating with her by any means, according to details the Diario de Sevilla.

Today it is suspected that the woman could have left the girl, who suffers from autism, with people who had no relationship with her in a house where narcotic substances would be regularly consumed. In fact, although they are still awaiting reports from the Scientific Police, the main hypothesis about the origin of the fire continues to be that a cigarette lit a mattress in the house.

In addition to the minor, two twenty-year-olds who were in the house were also treated by the health services. One of them, the one who rescued the victim, affected by smoke inhalation.

As the Sevillian newspaper reveals, the woman is separated from her father, with whom she has another, younger daughter. The injured minor usually lives with her father and it was her ex-partner who asked her to leave the girl for a few days, to which the father agreed, being totally oblivious to her mother’s activities.

The detainee was released this Sunday with charges and with a precautionary measure of removal and prohibition to communicate with her. If this were to be breached, it would entail another crime, that of breach of precautionary measure. Meanwhile, the minor is still admitted to the Virgen del Rocío hospital with burns on 45 percent of her body.
