This afternoon it was possible to see a spectacular coastal fog from the coast of Baix Llobregat, coming in from the sea. From Gavà beach, where I captured this image for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, you could see how the Garraf massif has practically disappeared.

Fog is a meteorological phenomenon that consists of the suspension of very small water droplets in the atmosphere or of moist hygroscopic particles, which reduce horizontal visibility to a distance of one kilometer or more.

If the meteorological phenomenon gives a vision of 1 km or less, it is considered fog; and if it allows you to see more than 1 km, the phenomenon is fog.

The Garraf massif is located in the Catalan Coastal mountain range. It occupies a triangular area between the Llobregat valley, the Penedès depression and the Mediterranean.

It forms a group of low mountains. Orographically it goes from sea level, where this perspective can be seen from Gavà beach, to 593 meters from the top of La Morella.

The Garraf massif loses height towards the west and disappears near Vendrell, where the coastal depression is limited by the sea. The Garraf mountains are calcareous with many chasms and caves. And the palmetto is an endemic species in this area.
