The Fallera Mayor of Valencia, Laura Mengó, has closed at dawn this Saturday the second and last day of the Offering of the Fallas 2023 -those of “normality”-, in which thousands of falleras and falleros have returned to their usual tour of the Plaza de la Reina after three years, which coincided with the cancellations of the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the pedestrianization works in the area.

With the last bouquet delivered by the Fallera Mayor, the tapestry that dresses the ‘Geperudeta’ has been completed, which this year honors the centenary of the coronation with carnations and daisies that draw a red, white, pink and yellow crown attached to the back by the hands of two falleros

More than 100,000 falleras and falleros have paraded during the two days of offering this Friday and Saturday before the patron saint of Valencians popularly known as the ‘Geperudeta’, on the occasion of Fallas 2023.

The first to parade this Saturday around 3:30 p.m. down Calle de la Paz were the commissions from the Pla del Reial – Benimaclet sectors and those of La Creu Coberta down Calle San Vicente, as indicated in the official Fallas program published by the JCF.

Likewise, the last to pass before the patroness on this first day were the members of the fallas of Russafa B and those of the falla of Fallera Major de Valencia, Laura Mengó, Falla Monestir de Poblet-Aparicio Albiñana ‘L’Antiga de Campanar ‘, from Calle San Vicente.

After the latter, they passed before the ‘Geperudeta’, with the same route the official procession of delegations from Burgos, Murcia and Alicante and the last five Falleras Mayores from the Valencian capital.

Laura Mengó and her Court of Honor have closed the offering of the Fallas 2023 at around 2:00 a.m. –approximately one hour behind the scheduled time– accompanied by the components of the Junta Central Fallera and the Municipal Band of Valencia.

After finishing the second and last day of the traditional Fallas Offering, which this year coincides with the Centenary of the Canonical Coronation of the Patron Saint, the Archbishop of Valencia, Monsignor Enrique Benavent, received Laura at the Basilica of the Virgen de los Desamparados Mengó and his Court of Honor, who have delivered their bouquet to the Mare de Déu.

As of this Sunday, March 19, it will remain open and several Eucharists will be celebrated, in the morning and in the afternoon, on the IV Sunday of Lent, in which a special mention will be made of San José and the Fallas.

Likewise, until March 22, the tapestry that dresses the ‘Geperudeta’ can be seen in the Plaza de la Virgen, which this year honors the centenary of the coronation with carnations and daisies that draw a red, white crown on the back , pink and yellow held by the hands of two falleros.

During this second day of the offering, well-known faces of Valencian politics have participated, such as the vice mayor and socialist candidate for Mayor of Valencia, Sandra Gómez; the Government delegate in the Valencian Community, Pilar Bernabé; the Councilor for Citizen Protection, Aarón Cano, and the spokesman for Citizens in the Valencia City Council, Fernando Giner, among others.
