In La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos we can see how on the beach of Castelldefels, in Baix Llobregat, we can already feel the languid and dull last days of a summer that is extinguished like a candle swept by the wind.

Ghostly clouds as a logical prelude to this beneficial rain that we all impatiently wait for and that never fully arrives.

On September 1, the phenomenon known as “meteorological autumn” began, which ends on November 30. Therefore, the “climatological autumn” should not be confused with the “astronomical autumn”, which begins on September 23.

The fact is that we speak of “meteorological autumn” because from September 1 the weather changes, with more risk of precipitation, storms and a gradual drop in temperatures, than during the month of August.

In fact, a total of 19 provinces of nine autonomous communities in the northeastern half of the peninsula, among which is Catalonia, are at risk this Tuesday due to rains that can leave 15 to 20 liters per square meter in one hour, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

The AEMET predicts that this Tuesday there will be showers and storms in the northeastern third of the peninsula, locally strong in the eastern Cantabrian, upper Ebro, Pyrenees, and other areas of Catalonia and the Levant.
