The Department of Health has detected seven outbreaks of whooping cough in institutes and schools in Sabadell during the month of February, according to ‘Diari de Sabadell’ and sources from the Catalan executive have confirmed.
The same sources indicate that the seven outbreaks have generated about sixty people, all of them mild in nature.
The protocol states that infected students are sent home and that families are informed by letter.
In the case of adults, they are asked to avoid contact with other people.
In Catalonia there are about 2,000 cases, also mild. No one is hospitalized due to the illness, says Salut.
The Ministry reminds that the child population is vaccinated and that for a few years the vaccine has also been applied to pregnant women.
