Cassidy Hutchinson claimed that President Donald Trump had thrown his lunch at the wall to respond to statements made by his attorney general about the 2020 election. Hutchinson was a top aide of President Donald Trump’s chief staff Mark Meadows and stated in Tuesday’s testimony before the House committee investigating Jan. 6. She claimed that she saw ketchup drip on the wall following the Dec. 1, 2020 incident.
William Barr, Attorney General, told the Associated Press that there was not enough evidence to show widespread fraud in the 2020 election.
Hutchinson stated to the panel that she was at her office when she heard noises coming from the hallway. “I peeked out of my office to see the valet coming towards my office. Hutchinson testified that he said to the chief to go to the dining area, because the president needs them. “Mark [Meadows] went to the dining area, and returned to the office a few moments later.”
Hutchinson returned Meadows’s way after which she noticed that the door was open. She said that the valet was in the dining area changing the tablecloth.
“He motioned to me to come in. She said that he pointed to the front of the room, near the TV and fireplace mantle. “That’s where I noticed ketchup drip on the walls and a cracked porcelain plate on top of the floor.”
She said that “The valet had stated that the president was very angry at the AP interview of the attorney general and had thrown his lunch against a wall, which was causing them all to have to clean it up.” “So I grabbed a towel and began wiping off the ketchup from the wall to help out the valet.
“He said something along the lines of, “He’s really upset about this. For now, I would avoid him. She said that he is “really, really ticked right now.”
Rep. Liz Cheney, vice-chair of the Committee, asked if this was the only scenario Hutchinson knew about when Donald Trump threw dishes. It is not, she said.
“Are you able to recall other occasions in the dining area where he vented his anger?” Hutchinson was asked by the Wyoming Republican.
Hutchinson stated that he was aware of Hutchinson throwing dishes or flipping the tablecloth so all the contents of the table would fall onto the floor.
Barr testified also about the reaction of Mr. Trump during their first meeting following publication of that article. Barr stated to Trump that he would resign. “He pounded on the table very hard. Everyone kind of jumped. He said, “Accepted,”” Barr had said in his previous testimony.
Hutchinson testified Tuesday that Anthony Ornato (a senior Secret Service official) told her Jan. 6, 2020, that Donald Trump was upset that he hadn’t gone to the Capitol.
Hutchinson claimed Ornato said to her that Trump, as he was being driven back towards the White House, “reach up towards the front of the car to grab the steering wheel,” which Bobby Engel, the head of security at the time of the incident, did.
“Mr. Engel grabbed him by the arm and said, “Sir, you need your hand off of the steering wheel. We’re going back to the west side. Hutchinson said that we are not going to Capitol. “Mr. Trump used his free hand and lunged toward Bobby Engel. He had moved towards his clavicles.”
Engle was present when Ornato told Hutchinson about the story. Hutchinson stated that Engle did not correct the story or disagree with it.
