The Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has decided to file an appeal before the Constitutional Court against the state Housing Law of the central Government, considering that up to eleven sections of eight articles of this regulation exceed the limits and “invade the powers” of the Regional housing executive.
The Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, explained it at the press conference after the Governing Council in which the decision was made to present the appeal that will be formalized in the coming days, although the term ends on July 25.
Rodrigo explained that the law affects excessive regulation in terms of the right to access housing and the definition of the areas of the stressed market.
The national law that came into force in May “invades powers of the Statute of Autonomy” of the Community of Madrid, according to the counselor, who has indicated that “there are more than important arguments” to argue that up to eleven sections of the State Law invade the regional powers in housing.
“It is an exclusive competence of the Community of Madrid and the State is going too far in this regard,” Rodrigo pointed out.
