A man believed to be the leader of a luxury car theft ring in Miami and Miami Beach has been caught on video. Twenty-six-year-old Zakria Khan was arrested in August for his alleged involvement in a criminal enterprise worth nearly $2 million. Miami Police have accused Khan of stealing high-end vehicles like Bentleys and Rolls-Royces from hotels and then re-titling them before sending them to other countries.
Police say Khan used a tow service to transport the stolen cars and would target valet companies by stealing keys directly from valet boxes. The stolen vehicles, including a Rolls Royce and Ferrari, were taken to a storage facility in Hollywood. Khan was captured on dash camera video and still photos wheeling and dealing with luxury cars, such as a Range Rover and Ferrari, which were also reported stolen.
Despite being labeled a flight risk in court, Khan had booked a ticket to Central America just before his arrest at Miami International Airport. He faces felony charges including grand theft and dealing in stolen property, with a hearing scheduled for January 2025. Khan has since bonded out of jail.
This method of stealing cars by targeting valet companies is a new trend that has emerged, according to police. Khan is believed to be a ringleader of this operation in the Miami area. The exclusive footage obtained by 7News shows Khan in action as he steals and transports luxury cars across different cities.
Sgt. Oscar Baquedano of the Miami Police described Khan as someone who has been involved in a lot of fraud. The arrest of Khan was made possible after a thorough investigation by the City of Miami and Miami Beach Police. The case was presented to a bond court judge, leading to Khan’s arrest and subsequent release on bond.
The investigation into Khan’s luxury car theft ring is ongoing, with authorities working to dismantle the operation and bring all involved individuals to justice. The stolen vehicles, worth millions of dollars, are being traced and recovered as part of the ongoing efforts to combat car theft in the Miami area.
