The scammers, about five people so far, although it is not ruled out that there are more victims, visited the home and handed over the money in the same act in which they received the supposed keys to what was supposed to become their home, keys that They never managed to open the locks.
After several complaints about simulated events, the National Police investigated the events. From January to April, there were several reports registered at the Provincial Police Station reporting possible scams in the rental of apartments through platforms such as Wallapop, Idealista, or Facebook, which shared the same modus operandi in the Cañada/Retamar area. .
All of them, as the body explained in a note, allegedly had in common the person in charge of cleaning the properties involved. The woman, taking advantage of the fact that she had the keys to the apartments, took the liberty of showing them when she knew that the legitimate inhabitants of the apartments were absent, subsequently formalizing the reservation and deposit for an amount of around 500 euros.
So far, five people have been affected by this scam, with the amount defrauded rising to 4,100 euros. The existence of more victims who have not yet reported their situation is not ruled out, which is why the National Police encourages potential victims to inquire about these events at the Police Station.
The detainee, a native of Almería, was placed at the disposal of Investigating Court number 6 on guard duty, which determined her provisional release. It means that this person has multiple records for similar events.
