The LGTBQ bracelet that has been talked about so much in recent weeks in the context of the World Cup in Qatar is once again on everyone’s lips. On this occasion the protagonist of the story is Brian Davis, an American fan who was expelled from the Al Thumama stadium in Doha for wearing an armband with the team’s flag.

Davis himself entered the stadium wearing this band on his arm since he had been allowed to do so at the entrance. However, once in his seat, a member of the Qatari police told him that he could not take it. The fan refused. It was then that several agents approached and grabbed him to remove him from the premises. The altercation occurred shortly before the start of the meeting.

Once outside the stands, several guards escorted Davis, a moment that the Danish journalist Rasmus Tantholdt managed to record despite the police officers’ attempt to prevent it. The North American fan came to say that they had twisted his arm. “They were very aggressive,” he declared. Davis was eventually released and allowed to return to his seat and keep the bracelet on his arm, a fact he shared via his Twitter account.

This event joins the multiple demands that have been made in recent weeks and that have generated controversy in the World Cup in Qatar. One of the most recent related to the initiative of some teams to wear the bracelet with the motto ‘One Love’ that finally did not come to fruition due to FIFA’s threat to sanction the players with a yellow card.

Similarly, Brian Davis joins the list of personalities who have decided to show their support for the LGTBI collective and the defense of human rights. Previously, former soccer player Alex Scott and Nancy Faeser, Germany’s Minister of the Interior, both wore the ‘One Love’ bracelet.
