22 years later, pub owner accused of shooting two customers to death sits in the dock

Richar Wilson Torres will sit in the dock of the Provincial Court of Madrid next week, almost 22 years after he allegedly shot dead two men with whom he argued in the pub he ran in Fuenlabrada, after which he fled to his native country, until he was extradited in 2022.

The accused was located in his native country, the Dominican Republic, and extradited in 2022 to be placed in provisional prison.

The Prosecutor’s Office is asking for 40 years in prison for him as the perpetrator of two crimes of murder, and that he compensate the mother of the second with 180,000 euros and 60,000 euros for each of the ten brothers of the two victims.

The Public Ministry reports that between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. on September 18, 2002, Jaro and Gorín went to the Anaisa Pub and while they were having drinks they argued with the accused, who ran the establishment and who “in the spirit of ending the lives of both, in a surprising way and depriving them of any possibility of defense, he pulled out a firearm” and shot them.

He did it at a distance of approximately one to one and a half meters, causing both of them to die instantly, the document details.

The bodies appeared on October 2, 2002 in the Toledo town of Yeles and the accused was on the run from Spanish justice for almost 20 years.
