The Department of Equality and Feminisms of the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia will promote nearly 140 local projects that will aim to prevent gender violence from city councils and regional councils around the Catalan geography, an action that is part of a new subsidy from the National Plan for the Prevention of Sexist Violence.

In the call of the Generalitat, more than 196 proposals for projects for the prevention of sexist violence around Catalonia have been received, whose main objective is to help and provide tools to the local entities of the Catalan municipalities, which includes both city councils , regional councils and associations, to strengthen the strategies and actions created, as well as promote the creation of new ones.

One of the local projects that this Generalitat program will subsidize is the ‘Local Pact against sexist violence in the municipality of Lleida’, one of the most notable of the call and which was presented this Friday in the town council.

The main objective of the project for the prevention of gender violence presented for the city of Lleida is to denature behaviors and false beliefs, as well as to strengthen community commitment and proactivity in the fight against sexist abuse, empowering women of all ages create their own spaces, facilitate self-identification and the arrest of cases of violence.
