The Podemos leadership has communicated this Saturday the proposal to expel the party’s only member of the General Assembly of the Principality, Covadonga Tomé, by the instructor of her disciplinary file before the State Guarantees Commission. A proposed resolution that is “merely informative” and against which “there is no appeal.”
However, Tomé’s entourage affirms that “this expulsion proposal must still be evaluated and ratified by the State Guarantees Commission, something that could happen in the coming days.”
The resolution makes reference to several interviews and public statements in the media and social networks “attacking people, organs and decisions of the party”, as well as “actions contrary” to the Podemos statutes or the fact of not having carried out “retribution donations to the party.”
A proposal is also made for the expulsion of the members of the collaborating team of the deputy Covadonga Tomé and who were numbers two and three of the regional candidacy of Podemos, Xune Elipe and Laura Tuero. The expulsion of Jorge Fernández and the suspension of membership for nine months for twenty members of the organization are also proposed.
For them, this measure “would prevent them from appearing in the Primaries that begin on Tuesday,” as they point out in a press release after learning of the decision.
In this regard, Tomé asks Ione Belarra and Irene Montero “to rectify” and points out that “there is still time for primaries without vetoes and to change the course of the party.” “We demand a transparent, democratic and respectful primary process with the free right of participation of all,” he adds.
