Today I would like to show in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos some images taken in Vallès Oriental. They are prints that have recently generated controversy.

We can see how administrations and/or individuals have carried out the so-called “forest management”, which consists of eliminating the undergrowth, cutting dead trees or removing trees in areas of crowded woods.

According to the administrations, in the event of a fire, the virulence of the fire may be less or more quickly controlled. They also argue that soil water stress is reduced, causing rivers to increase their flow.

On the other hand, there are people who argue that these works or actions seem to be done without any criteria. A situation that makes some people living in these lands put their hands on their heads.

Many times, detractors argue that management does have to be done, but perhaps not on this scale or dimension.

We must remember that the inhabitants of these areas walk along some paths and paths and from one day to the next, large machines have cut down a large number of bushes, trees, plants… These people have many memories of these areas and are as good as Suddenly the administrations are in a hurry to carry out these fellings. In addition, critics claim that they could affect native fauna.

Of course, they also argue that it is true that there are areas or places where this logging would have been necessary, but also five years ago, and no one has cared until now.

I think that forests do have to be managed, but perhaps not in this way. They cause changes in the forests, traces on the paths are lost, memories of where those autumn mushrooms were will fade… Although of course, it is also good to protect yourself from a fire or make it easier for firefighters to access an area of ??forest . It is not a minor concern and it should also be taken into account.
