PowerCo, the company that is building the future SEAT-Volkswagen battery gigafactory, has today formally inaugurated its work center in Sagunt, where the plant will be located in the future and where about a dozen workers will be installed in the coming days. The management team of PowerCo Spain and the company’s COO, Sebastian Wolf, have supervised this morning the progress of the preliminary work on the land, which has allowed the installation of the first temporary offices, as well as electrical, water and gas connections. sanitation and the design of roads that will allow heavy machinery to enter the land during the work. Following this preliminary work, which is scheduled to be completed in the coming weeks, PowerCo will begin foundation work on the first phases of the gigafactory.

Thus, after opening its first work headquarters in the offices in Valencia to launch the project, PowerCo has made official today, during the celebration of its first year, the opening of its headquarters in Sagunt, where all of its workers progressively as the works progress, as confirmed by the CEO of PowerCo Spain, Thomas Dahlem.

The CEO and COO of PowerCo Spain, Thomas Dahlem, has pointed out the “good pace” at which the work is progressing and has been convinced that “2024 will be the year in which the gigafactory finally begins to be built.” “On January 17, 2023, we opened our offices in Valencia with just a dozen workers and today, a year later, we have more than 90 workers, we have all the teams formed, construction work has already begun and we are finally opening. our second work center, this time already in the gigafactory facilities.”

Thomas Dahlem, who thanked the team of PowerCo workers for “the effort made throughout this year,” has also clarified that the first workers who will be physically located in Sagunt will be the team of engineers “responsible for the construction of the plant and the supervision of the works, so that we can advance at the greatest speed and with the least setbacks”, as well as part of the Safety and Health team “who will coordinate all the necessary actions for the protection of all the people who work on the works of the gigafactory.” Although, yes, he has clarified that “progressively and as the works evolve we will progressively transfer all PowerCo workers to Sagunt.”
