The Civil Guard has arrested two people in Seville as alleged perpetrators of several crimes of illegal detention, robbery with force and misappropriation, after holding against his will an octogenarian who lived in Ayamonte (Huelva) and gaining his trust to make use of your bank cards.
As indicated by the Armed Institute in a press release, the operation began at the end of October 2023, when the Ayamonte Judicial Police team became aware of this event after a complaint from an elderly person (85 years old). ) resident in the town, who stated that he had been held against his will by people who were taking care of him.
In this way, as reported by the Civil Guard, three years ago the old man met a young 32-year-old neighbor from Ayamonte, with whom he maintained a friendly relationship, helping her financially in an altruistic and selfless way so that she could face some expenses I had.
Thus, with the passage of time, the young woman would have taken advantage of his trust to obtain bank cards and carry out different transactions – purchases in stores, transfers, statements, online purchases and credits – without the consent of the elderly man, even leaving him bank account without funds. In fact, she even convinced the octogenarian to include her as an ‘authorized person’ and change the ownership of her home.
In this way, after different investigations, the Civil Guard agents found out that in August 2023, the elderly man was transferred, as he stated, from Ayamonte to Seville by the young woman and her partner with the alleged pretext of “taking care of him”, after having suffered a domestic accident.
During the stay, according to his testimony, this person would have remained locked up in a room for a month and a half, “in precarious conditions, receiving little hygiene care and eating little daily food.” All of this, “without communication with other people around her, not even by phone.” It was at this moment when the couple used the cards, using all the money that the man had in his account. Once they withdrew all the money, they moved it back to Ayamonte.
Finally, the agents obtained enough evidence to arrest these two people in Seville. The detainees and the proceedings carried out have been placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
