The Liverpool coach, the German Jürgen Klopp, announced this Friday by surprise that he will leave the Anfield club at the end of the season. Klopp has a contract until 2026 but has decided to leave the helm of the ‘red’ team.
“I can understand that it is a shock for many people but, obviously, I can explain it, or at least try to. I love this club, this city, our fans, the team, the employees… but I am convinced of taking this decision,” highlighted the German. According to the coach he is suffering from wear and tear.
“I’m running out of energy. I don’t have any problems now. I’ve known it for a while and I had to announce it at some point. I know he couldn’t get the job done over and over again. After all the time we spent together, respect and love grew and the least I owe you is the truth,” Klopp said.
The German joined Liverpool nine seasons ago, in 2015-2016. During this long career he has led the team to win, at an international level, the 2018-2019 Champions League, the 2019 European Super Cup and the 2019 Club World Cup. On English soil with him, Liverpool won the 2019-2020 Premier League, the of the League 2021-2022, the FA Cup 2021-2022 and the Community Shield 2022.
