The Civil Guard has arrested a content creator on a well-known social network in which he published videos denigrating and mocking people with serious mental disorders, homeless people and people belonging to racially discriminated communities. The videos were made as challenges with the slogan: If you laugh, you lose.
The operation, which began in the middle of last December, began when the representative of a center specialized in Severe Mental Disorder, located in the province of Valencia, informed the police of the existence of content on a well-known social network with thousands of followers in which degrading videos were made that mock people with said disorder, with the harm that this entails for the victims’ families.
The agents have been able to determine that the influencer frequented the vicinity of the center during times when patients went out for a walk with the purpose of creating humiliating and mocking content in video format for later public dissemination. The author tried to hide his identity with the clear intention of evading the Security Forces and Bodies.
The profile user has been identified and his whereabouts located. This is a 35-year-old man, a resident of the town of Benimamet, in Valencia, who took advantage of his work as a crane operator to carry out interviews with socially marginalized individuals that he found in public spaces during his work day. He also sometimes traveled with his own vehicle to the aforementioned residence.
Once the agents analyzed the content published on the detainee’s social profile, it was found that he not only made degrading videos of people with disabilities, but also of socially marginalized individuals, such as homeless people, people who suffer from alcohol or alcohol problems. drugs, or individuals belonging to racially discriminated communities.
That is why he is charged with a hate crime for humiliating vulnerable people and the permanent closure of his social media profile, which had 7,979 followers and 76,300 likes, as well as the elimination of all associated material.
