After days of indecision after being injured, FC Barcelona confirmed this Saturday that left-back Alejandro Balde will finally undergo surgery in the coming days.
In this way it is hoped to resolve the injury to the hamstring tendon of the right thigh that affects the young Blaugrana player. Dr. Lasse Lempainen, under the supervision of the entity’s medical services, will be in charge of operating on Balde.
The intervention will take place in Turku (Finland). Barça will provide a new medical report when the operation is over, although it is foreseeable that the defender’s time out will not be short. In fact, according to the EFE agency, the remainder of the season will be lost.
Balde was injured during Barça’s visit to San Mamés, where he was eliminated from the Copa del Rey last Wednesday. Since then, there were doubts about whether the best solution for the defender was to undergo surgery or not.
“He has to choose. It is his career and he is very young. For us he is an important player. Whatever he chooses, we will support him,” said Blaugrana coach, Xavi Hernández. However, the club’s medical services advised Balde to undergo surgery. Finally, the player has followed this advice. Barça currently has a long list of players with physical problems.
