The Mossos d’Esquadra of the Mataró Police Station (Maresme) arrested, the week of February 19, a 46-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of four robberies with violence and intimidation on public roads.

On February 21, around 1 p.m., some municipal brigade workers reported that they had witnessed a violent robbery on a public street, near Lluís Millet Square. The workers saw a man yank a woman and run away with the stolen handbag.

The police began the search and a few minutes later they located a man who matched the description provided by the victim. The agents waited for the arrival of more patrols and during the identification and search of the alleged criminal they saw that he was hiding a mobile phone whose origin they could not prove.

Once the arrangements were made with the telephone, it was determined who the owner was and the agents went to her home to verify if she had been the victim of a robbery that same afternoon. The woman explained everything that happened and recognized her phone, so the man was detained for an alleged crime of robbery with violence.

This arrest put the agents of the Investigation Unit on alert, who were able to link this man to three violent robberies that had occurred on the 14th, 19th and 21st in the same town.
