If you visit the tower of the Ardèvol castle, which is located in the same square of this town attached to the municipality of Pinós (Solsonès), you will most likely encounter cats.
In this beautiful urban area it is easy to discover groups of beautiful kittens with whom to share a very pleasant time, as we see in these photographs in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos.
The Ardèvol tower was declared a cultural asset of national interest. This rectangular guard structure of the old castle, probably before the 11th century, was covered by a cylindrical tower, but this collapsed in 1932.
The rectangular tower has a long side of 8 meters and a short side of 4.70 meters, while its walls have a thickness of 150 cm and a height of about 15 meters. It is located next to the parish church of Santa Maria.
This castle, built on a high place, was to serve to monitor, around the year 1000, along with those of Pinós, Vallferosa, Llanera or Peracamps, the eastern sector of the border that the county of Urgell had with the lands dominated by the Muslims. .
