The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has been aware of an alert sent by the health authorities of Catalonia. This confirms the presence of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) in the product ‘HHC Gummies Strawberry’, from the Ypsilós brand, from Malta.
According to Europa Press, the initial distribution has been to Catalonia, although it cannot be ruled out that there may be redistributions to other autonomous communities.
The AESAN has launched this alert with the aim of verifying the withdrawal of the affected products from marketing channels, also informing of the existence of possible cases.
Consuming foods with HHC in their composition can have consequences, since it poses a serious risk to health. “People who have products affected by this alert at home are recommended to refrain from consuming them,” AESAN said in a statement.
The competent authorities of the autonomous communities have received this information thanks to the Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI) and the Coordination Center for Health Alerts and Emergencies (CCAES).
