They demand more security after several fellow taxi drivers have been attacked in recent weeks. The last of them, and which has meant that the president of the Seville Taxi Union, David Capelo, has shown concern because “a rampant insecurity is detected in taxis throughout the city of Seville”, took place near the neighborhood known as the 3,000 homes in the capital of Seville, when the driver of the vehicle was injured after being shot while working.
Specifically, the man was carrying out a service during his day to take a girl to La Raza Avenue, when the lead from a bullet hit his jaw, as confirmed by Capelo.
The event took place around 10:00 a.m. last Saturday on Su Eminencia road, near the neighborhood of 3,000 homes. The vehicle was moving when a bullet hit the glass of the driver’s door, without breaking it, causing the bullet to become trapped and the lead to hit the driver’s jaw. The origin of the bullet is unknown at this time, according to Capelo.
Subsequently, the affected person took the young woman to her destination and went to the Virgen del Rocío hospital to receive medical attention, accompanied by his wife. At the medical center, the injured man filed a report for the court and filed the corresponding complaint, although he “could not identify the aggressor at any time,” he noted.
In this context, Capelo has insisted that “these incidents are getting worse” because “a couple of weeks ago another colleague also received an impact, but in this case he hit the car.” Thus, he has warned that “the episodes of people using the service and then deciding to leave without paying are multiplying.” “Taxi drivers are also 2,000 parents in Seville who have zero security,” he stressed, while clarifying that “these are the real problems with taxis.” Finally, he has demanded that the Seville City Council “do everything possible to increase security and the deterioration that is observed in these services, especially at certain hours when there is no police presence in the city.”
