There is never a good time for web servers to fail, but today is especially bad day.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced issues with its S3 storage service Tuesday morning that broke websites and services across the internet. The problems affected sites like Business Insider, Giphy, Quora, filesharing in Slack and image and video hosting at many publishing sites.

Amazon’s status site reported issues — “high error rates” — with its East Coast S3 center and said the company was working to resolve the problems.

As much of the internet came to a grinding halt, conference attendees were gathered in Edinburgh, Scotland for AWSome Day, which celebrates all things AWS. As you can imagine, things are not going well.
