Deputies arrested a 24-year-old man accused of carjacking a FedEx driver Tuesday, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathan Torres approached the driver on Sandalwood Drive near Kissimmee and repeatedly demanded that he step out of his vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Fearing for his life, the man complied and then called police.

The suspect fled in the FedEx truck, witnesses said, only to return to the scene 10 minutes later.

Witnesses told police that Torres ran into a home in the 200 block of Sandalwood Drive. Deputies tried to contact him, but he did not respond.

Thinking that he had barricaded himself inside the home, deputies entered three hours later with a search warrant. Torres was not inside.

Torres was arrested about 6:15 p.m. Tuesday. Details were not immediately available.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at 407-348-2222 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-8477.
