In a long number of years was Birgit Meister a part of the nyhedsbilledet on Danish television – both in front of and behind the camera – until she in 2002, stopped in the tv industry, as 60-year-old.

About two weeks to fill the former tv host 78 years old, but even though she no longer can be seen on the screen, so she has enough to see to.

– I do many things, even though I am old and not in the television more, laughing Birgit Meister, who still writes for Kristeligt Dagblad.

in Addition, she is among other things president of the national Association Multiple System Atrophy, MSA, which is a progressive neurological disease.

– It was what my husband died of, and there was not really any knowledge about it in Denmark. Now we have the (national Association Multiple System Atrophy, red.) existed for some years, and it goes there part time.

Birgit Meister tells that there are about 300 people affected by the disease, which in 2006 took the life of her husband by 41 years, Hans Jørgen Petersen. After the grief, she decided that she would help in the fight against the disease.

– It is not a disease, you can survive, so it is important that you get some help, says the former tv host, who is happy that she can be with to help.

– It is really important. I am not a doctor, but I can some other things around the information about the disease and the research that we would like to raise money for.
