The United States saw a higher number of mass shooting deaths on the first weekend of June than the three-day preceding weekend. This weekend ended with Memorial Day.

Through Sunday night, there were at least 12 deaths and 38 injuries in weekend violence. Mass shootings are defined by the Gun Violence Archive to be any incident in which “four people or more are killed or shot, or both,” but not the shooter.

Nine people were killed and over 60 others were injured by attacks that matched this definition during the holiday weekend.

Investigators are currently investigating the origins of the attack.
