Vocational Training is fundamental as a gateway to the labor market for thousands of students who are in the process of deciding on their academic future, as well as a key tool for the future development of our society and our productive system.
Over the next few years alone, almost nine million job opportunities will be registered in Spain, of which more than two million will be for VT technicians, according to a study by the CaixaBank Dualiza VT Observatory. Most will be replacement opportunities, for people who are of working age and who will retire soon. In fact, it is expected that in just over a decade, almost one in three workers who are of working age today will leave the labor market due to their age, according to the December 2022 FPAnalysis. they will compensate with the incorporation of new workers, generating a talent deficit.
To this we must add that, according to the European Center for the Development of VET, Cedefop, by the end of the decade more than half of the jobs will require a medium or high qualification. Both for those who will enter the market for the first time, and for those who are already in it, VT is a fundamental tool for providing the necessary skills to face the three great challenges that will affect our economy: the digital , the development of sustainability and the demographic impact.
Professions such as a higher technician in Automation and Industrial Robotics, in Automated Electronic Systems or in Telecommunications Installations will continue to have full employability.
However, we are moving towards a society where there will be no digital jobs, but rather all jobs will have a digital part, regardless of the sector, and therefore all VT cycles will incorporate digital training. As an example, it suffices to point out that in the same way that today in the hospitality sector we see how a large percentage of reservations are already made over the Internet, it is also becoming normal in industrial companies that part of the machinery is connected to the cloud.
It is essential to incorporate and deepen these digital skills, so that any student has an adequate foundation that facilitates their incorporation into their job, as well as a subsequent development of the skills they need in it.
In the same way, sustainability ceases to be a concept to become part of all production processes, fully affecting the production chain from the beginning, with a fundamental part, energy, in which cycles such as the higher technician in Renewable Energies, or technician in Networks and Water Treatment Stations will earn more weight every day. The FP will also respond to this challenge by training all students in sustainability, in what constitutes a declaration of intent so that FP technicians have a sufficiently broad base with which to face the challenges of tomorrow.
CaixaBank Dualiza maintains a total commitment to promoting VT, convinced of its importance for social advancement by promoting the employability of young people and its contribution to improving the competitiveness of companies.
This commitment materializes in the various activities to support Vocational Training, in which the Call for Dualiza Grants promoted by FPEmpresa should be highlighted to enable the development of projects for FP educational centers that are carried out together with companies and that facilitate student learning.
But also in research on FP or in the complementary training provided to students and teachers to improve digital skills, improve their knowledge in areas such as agriculture or provide them with training for better water management.
Since it began its activity, CaixaBank Dualiza has benefited almost 28,000 students, 2,700 companies and 1,600 educational centers.
