The MotoGP World Championship returns with the second round of the circuit, the Argentine GP that will be held this Sunday, April 2, at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit, located 6 km from the city that gives it its name, in the Province of Santiago del Estero.

After only two weeks of competition, this second round will be marked by the absence of Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda RC 213 V). The eight-time world champion underwent surgery this week to repair a fractured first metacarpal in his right hand.

Before finding out about the intervention, the Catalan did not have good news for the Argentine GP either. Márquez had been penalized with a double long lap (long lap) for the race at Termas de Río Hondo, one of his favorite circuits, where he has won up to three times in the premier class.

The Spanish pilot had a rough start to the World Cup. In turn three of the third lap of the Portuguese GP, he tried to overtake Jorge Martín on the inside, but he went wide and hit the Portuguese Miguel Oliveira from behind, who went violently to the ground, while Martín was able to dodge the situation but he lost many positions (16th).

Meanwhile, Italian Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia (Ducati Desmosedici GP23) consolidated his lead in the motorcycle world championship by taking his second victory at the Portimao circuit.

“Pecco” Bagnaia is one of the big favorites to get the title, alongside Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha YZR M 1), Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda RC 213 V) and Joan Mir (Repsol Honda RC 213 V), among other big names of the category.

The Argentine GP, the second round of the MotoGP World Championship, will be held this Sunday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit. The race can be seen on television on DAZN and can also be followed live on the La Vanguardia website.
