A scuba diver has died and two others have been injured this Thursday morning in Cadaqués (Alt Empordà), as reported by Diari de Girona and confirmed by La Vanguardia.

Maritime Rescue received the notice through the 112 emergency telephone number at 11:39 in the morning. In the call they reported the death of a diver on the island of Cullaró, north of Cala Culip, in the municipality of Cadaqués.

The Salvamar Alnilam boat moved to the scene of the events, which located the fatality, aged about 60, and the two injured. The first hypotheses suggest that the man was unwell and that his companions tried to get out of the water quickly without completing the decompression process.

Salvamento Marítimo also alerted the Fire Brigade, the GEAS of the Civil Guard and the Medical Emergency System (SEM), which transported the two injured by ambulance to the Figueres Hospital. Previously, a Maritime Rescue boat took them to the port of Llançà.

Next to the boat used by the other victims, there was a boat from a diving center in Cadaqués. Apparently, according to Maritime Rescue sources, the three affected were free and would not have contracted the diving activity to any company.
