Spring continues for the cattle egrets, as we see in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia. In a first image, we see a specimen in flight and the blurred spring landscape below. And in the other image, carrying a branch to repair the nest.

These are photographs captured in the natural surroundings of the Ter River, as it passes through the municipality of Les Masies de Voltregà, in the Osona region.

This small-medium-sized heron, during the nuptial season, is adorned with orange tones on the nape, chest and more reddish on the beak. In summer we can also see it near the cattle. It is an accommodative and adaptable bird.

Until the second half of the 19th century, the cattle egret originally inhabited many tropical and subtropical areas of Africa. But, at the beginning of the last century, it began to colonize other lands.

So much so that today it is a very cosmopolitan bird, which we can find in places as diverse as southern Europe, Oceania or North America.
