The sunrise from the beach of Gavà has given us for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia a spectacular postcard of the rising sun coming out from behind a house.

The beautiful snapshot reminded me of the mythical and beautiful song by The Animals, The House of the Rising Sun. Spectacular image to start the day with a lot of strength.

Actually, it is a folk song from the United States, by an unknown author, whose origins date back to the 16th century. It narrates the life of someone who has had little fortune in New Orleans (Louisiana state).

The two best-known modern versions of the song, yes, are that of the British group The Animals, from 1964, which reached first place in sales in the United States and the United Kingdom. The version by Joan Baez, from 1959-60, also stands out.

The song House of the Rising Sun reached number 123 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
