The minor who was electrocuted along with his mother on May 28 while cleaning a private pool in Torrefarrera, in the province of Lleida, has died, as reported by the municipality’s City Council this Monday in a statement. The consistory has decreed two days of official mourning for the death of the minor and for that of the woman, who died at the time of the events.

After being electrocuted with his mother, the boy was admitted in serious condition at the Sant Joan de Déu hospital in Barcelona, where he died days later.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the flags will fly at half mast in all municipal buildings and all scheduled official public events are suspended. The Municipal Corporation has lamented the sad event and condolences have been sent to the family of the victims.

For his part, the mayor of Torrefarrera, Jordi Latorre, has shown his dismay at the death of the two residents of the municipality.

“If the death of a young person is already a tragedy, the loss of a child is terrible. And all together in a family, it is a great misfortune. At the same time, we hope that a catastrophe like this will never happen again. Let’s do a call to the danger of using power tools when there is water around,” he tweeted.
