A six-year-old boy died a month after being struck by lightning while walking with his father and older brother in Varelly Mills, Texas (United States). Matthew Boggs, the father, died instantly, while little Grayson, who was holding hands with his father, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Eleven-year-old Elijah walked away from the two victims unharmed.
The family confirmed the tragic news that occurred on May 3, when they were returning from school, through the GoFundMe portal, a portal in which the family is registered with the aim of raising funds. “Fly high, sweet child”, is the message written on the website.
The lightning left damage to the frontal lobe of the brain and the optic nerve of Grayson, who suffered multiple seizures after the incident, according to Stephanie Burris, the children’s cousin, who set up a GoFundMe page.
The little boy was in a coma for a month, connected to an artificial respirator and suffering from seizures until last Thursday, when he was disconnected after doctors told relatives that there was little hope that the boy would survive. He died on Friday.
