Barcelona, ??June 22 (EFE).- The ONCE Volunteer Service has provided more than 100,000 services to blind or visually impaired people affiliated with the organization.
As reported by ONCE this Thursday, the work of the volunteers, who are 408 in Catalonia and more than 3,000 in all of Spain, ranges “from making one call a week to running a marathon” and the service can be requested for daily activities How to do business, travel or sports.
Almost one of every two volunteer services provided at ONCE is concentrated in the telephone accompaniment program, “so necessary to alleviate situations of unwanted loneliness”.
Other volunteer programs of the entity are the Accompaniment Program, the Access to Information Program, the Sports Program, the Cultural-Recreational Program, the Dissemination-Tutoring Program and the International Volunteer Program.
The ONCE delegate in Catalonia, Enric Botí, has expressed: “It is necessary to give special recognition to the figure of the volunteer, whose work is always essential. They are people who put their hearts, their time and their effort to help others and contribute to making a more just and supportive society”. EFE
