The X Blue paid subscription, formerly known as Twitter Blue, now includes the option to hide the blue verification label, which before Elon Musk’s arrival was free and associated with account recognition or credibility, but now it can be reason for criticism.
“As a subscriber, you can choose to hide your verification mark in your account. The verification mark will be hidden in your profile and posts,” says a company statement. However, X notes that “the checkmark may still appear in some places” and that subscribers may not be able to access some features “as long as the verification label is hidden.”
Before Musk bought Twitter – the social network now called X – the platform used a blue tag verification system for account recognition or credibility, but this year Musk began allowing anyone to be “verified” through of a subscription of 8 dollars a month (about 7.32 euros) and, later, withdrew the verifications that users had obtained in the previous administration.
Since this change, some X Blue users have been criticized for paying for the free social network and for showing support for Musk. In addition to a verification label, the X Blue subscription allows users to edit their posts, upload longer videos, and reach more users.
Last week Musk renamed the social network and changed the blue bird logo to an X. The tycoon’s goal is for X to become a super app that people use not only as a social network, but also as an instant messaging and communication tool. sale, purchase and payment of goods, services and opportunities.
