Orange invoiced 3.5 billion euros in Spain between January and September 2023, which represents a growth of 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the results communicated to the market this Tuesday.

The telecom company has already accumulated five consecutive quarters of billing increases, but the one registered in the third quarter of 2023, barely a growth of 0.1%, reflects a clear decline compared to the more than 2% that revenue grew in the second quarter of the year. anus.

In this framework, the company hopes that the merger with MásMóvil, pending the Brussels authorities, will be closed before the end of the year.

In any case, the company confirms a “positive commercial trend” in its retail and corporate businesses. “The growth in revenue from retail services continues, which links three positive quarters, with 2.4% in the last quarter (with a total of 801 million euros) and 1.8% in the first nine months (until 2,390 million euros).

The company has also increased its total customer base, which reaches 21,609,000 users as of September 30 (3.6% more than in 2022), with 17,652,000 mobile service users and 3,957,000 fixed broadband users. .

In terms of service technology, convergence contributes 1,420 million euros to Orange Spain’s business until September, 1.5% more than in the first nine months of the previous year (1.4% in the third quarter, up to 474 million).

Meanwhile, the equipment sales business increased 13.3% until September (513 million euros) and 4.1% in the third quarter (166 million euros).

In addition, 32,000 new users joined their fiber services in the last year, 9,000 of them in the third quarter. Fiber penetration in Orange’s fixed broadband base now exceeds 90%, with a total of 3,586,000 customers using its services over this technology (0.9% compared to September of the previous year).

Regarding television, the Orange platform currently has 1,298,000 subscribers, 14.3% more than the previous year.

Regarding mobile telephony, Orange reached, as of September 30, a total of 17,652,000 customers of these services, 4.7% more compared to the previous year.

Once again, the increase in the company’s contract base stands out, which increased by 6% year-on-year, to 16,011,000 clients (907,000 in the last year). Excluding M2M, the number of contract clients amounts to 11,573,000, after adding 3,000 new registrations in the third quarter of 2023 and growing 1.2% year-on-year.

In 5G technology, the user base reached 2,507,000 customers, after adding 328,000 more in the last three months. Orange ended the first nine months with 5G coverage over 83.2% of the Spanish population, 15% more than the same period in 2022), already reaching 2,463 municipalities with said connectivity.

In February, Orange launched its 5G network (trade name 5G SA), and at the end of the third quarter of 2023 it was already available in 38 locations in Spain.

The commercial progression in fiber is due, in large part, to the push that the company continues to exert to expand its FTTH network in Spain, which already covers 17.1 million homes and businesses, after expanding its footprint by more than 400,000 real estate units since the third quarter of 2022.

In addition, Orange offers 10 Gbps fiber services over its ultra-fast XGSPON network, which covers 1.5 million properties in Spain with its coverage (after adding some 600,000 real estate units connected to this technology since September 2022).

It should be noted that Orange fiber optics contribute decisively to connecting rural Spain, already reaching 1,750 municipalities, of which 730 have less than 5,000 inhabitants.
