The 22,632 new pensioners of the general regime who have entered the system in September have done so with an initial retirement of 1,571.29 euros on average, as reported this Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration.

In the system as a whole, including other regimes such as self-employed, maritime regime or mining, the average entry figure into the system is reduced to 1,472.46 euros. In any case, both are a maximum for the month of September, although higher figures have been seen in other months of the year.

Expenditure on contributory pensions rose to 12,075 million euros in October, 10.9% more. A new record figure that consolidates the monthly payroll above the 12,000 million euros it reached in July.

The disbursement represents a total of 11.6% of GDP. 73% of spending goes to retirement, with 8,816 million euros, 9.4% more than last year. Those of widowhood represent 2,008 million (9.4%), while those of permanent disability imply 1,056 million (7.5%).

In total, 9.13 million people receive a pension, with 10.08 million receiving benefits. Among the different pensions that exist – retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favor of relatives – an average of 1,197.3 euros per month is achieved, 9.5% more than last year.

If the averages are looked at separately, the average retirement pension increases by 9.5% year-on-year in October, up to 1,377.2 euros per month. It is the pension with the most beneficiaries, with 6.2 million people. Those of the general regime are higher, with an average of 1,533.6 euros, compared to 917.1 euros for self-employed workers. By autonomies, the highest retirement pensions are registered in the Basque Country, with 1,686.67 euros for the system as a whole.
