Tense moments were experienced during the first hour of the morning during the eviction in the Bonanova neighborhood of Barcelona. The Ruïna and Kubo squatters threw blunt objects such as stones at the Mossos d’Esquadra during the Catalan police raid on the two occupied buildings.
The eviction began around 6:10 a.m. and, from inside the building, bags of rubble, smoke canisters and flares were thrown to make the intervention difficult. In addition, at the entrance to the building they placed objects to hinder the agents’ access. Seven people were arrested but no serious incidents should be highlighted.
The riot police have finally been able to access the interior of the occupied house ‘el Kubo’, near Bonanova Square, and the building is now under control. BRIMO agents have even used a kind of mobile iron cage to protect themselves from squatters and approach the premises. They have also been able to enter the ‘la Ruïna’ plot, specifically in the patio, after removing the perimeter door until they controlled the squat home.
Meanwhile, the demonstration against the eviction has been dissolved. The march began at 5:30 a.m. in the Vallcarca metro and progressed to Plaza Bonanova, where it passed several times. The protesters have walked very fast and continually turned down different streets to make it difficult for the police to follow them. There has been a moment of tension when they have launched attacks against a journalist and have damaged a real estate agency.
The Mossos have acted at the request of the courts of first instance 3 and 39. The Mossos d’Esquadra have fenced the perimeter of the occupied buildings, and agents from the Mobile Brigade (Brimo), of Citizen Security, have been activated for the device. from the Drone Unit, the Mountain Unit and the Canine Unit, and agents from the Urban Guard.
